When Charles Howard CEO of CallAhead visited France, he made a point to visit the popular Chateau de Versailles. The Chateau de Versailles, located 15 miles southwest of Paris is a royal castle that was built in the late 17th century. The castle served as the home of King Louis XIV and King Louis XVI. The palace has over 700 rooms and 60 staircases. The palace was constructed as a display of magnificence and power and served as the French seat of government from 1682 to 1789, until the time of the French Revolution.
Towards the mid-1800s, the Palace of Versailles was converted into a museum. During the 19th century, museum curators started restoring parts of the museum back to its original splendor to show how the palace looked like prior to the French Revolution.
